Vancouver Island's commercial properties are a great investment! BUT - and this is a big one - choosing the wrong company to work with from the get go can result in some major engineering costs, as we have seen time and time again. IF ITS NOT STRUCTURALLY EFFICIENT - STOP.20 years in this industry and we still see the same mistakes made repeatedly. If the structural efficiency of the building you are interested in is questionable - stop - and call us. As a company with a wealth of experience we will manage your engineering costs, as well as give direction to help you save costs. The biggest thing we experience is new owners of buildings complaining about engineering charges, so if you have no experience in the area hire someone who does! DON'T COUNT ON WORD OF MOUTHBusiness Development Canada explains that " You should be looking for quality builders who have a good reputation and are responsive to your needs. Key traits of good builders include experience, timeliness and a knowledge of your industry. For example, if your building must meet food-industry standards, your builder should have expertise in that sector." However, when it comes to determining the "reputation" of your builder - make sure you are looking deeper than hearsay. For example, check in to the warranty claim history of the builder you chose - have they ever had warranty claims? How many? How were they dealt with? Check them out with the BBB - what is their current standing? Also, if your builder is hesitating in answering any of these questions that should be a red flag too! Best of luck - and we hope to year from you soon!
